As Vice President of Economic Development for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, Dan Preston provides general guidance and oversight to the Chamber’s economic development efforts. Included in his efforts are infrastructure development facilitation and planning. Dan also collaborates with the Chamber’s Workforce Development Committee, which has earned national recognition for its Work Ethic Seal program. Dan also serves as an integral component in the Chamber’s regional branding and regional economic development cooperation, including marketing and Web site development. The Vice President of Economic Development also works closely with Chamber President & CEO James N. Hizer, CEcD in the promotion of the Kentucky Transpark.
Dan previously served as the Vice President of Business Retention & Expansion for the Economic Development Authority of Wayne County, Indiana. Dan has a long history of professional success, as he was responsible for attracting projects resulting in several hundred new jobs impacting the local economy. He designed and implemented the programs used in business expansion and retention and was active in formulating an overall marketing program that received international recognition.
Dan also spent more than two decades with Vectren Energy Delivery Indiana, where his responsibilities included market development and public affairs. He received the U. S. Army Commendation Medal, had projects recognized by the Indiana State Legislature, and secured a $500,000 property donation for a children’s museum, in addition to serving on various boards of directors for numerous charitable and civic organizations.
